After the first 2-week segment of quarantine was over, we moved to a different hotel where we were allowed to go out with minimal, logical regulations.
Notable Regulations:
Don't eat or drink in public (basically don't take off your mask outside)
Don't go into unnecessary areas (places where you wouldn't need to buy necessities, which is kind of up to your interpretation)
Don't go to places with huge crowds (concerts, huge gatherings, also kind of up for interpretation)
Obviously, the original NSLI-Y rules apply during this quarantine too
Pretty simple rules. If you ever have any questions, asking the local program staff is a brilliant idea,
Lia's Life Tip #1: Ask questions. A ton. Seriously, it helps.
Lia's Life Tip #2: Bring bandaids and comfortable shoes (A TON of walking in Taiwan)
Fun Highlights:
- Movie nights with our cohort friends

- Going to Shoushan (the monkey mountain). A monkey took my coffee.
*There are a TON of stairs*
Note to future NSLI-Yer's: Don't follow random people. It can be dangerous. Stranger danger. In any situation you feel unsafe, sharing your immediate location with a trusted member and paying attention to your data connection would be smart.

- Walking around and taking a look at the city! Going out and enjoying yourselves is part of the learning experience! Try to talk to your cohort members in your target language, and try to read the signs on the buildings!

- Places with pretty scenery = good pictures to send to other people and post!

- Getting to know fellow cohort members! So many people know so many different things in your cohort. Some of the best conversations I've had with people!
